BOW THAYER TO HEADLINE MNFF SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY

Join us for the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival’s big Saturday Night Party featuring a rousing performance by the legendary Bow Thayer!

American Flatbread, located in Middlebury’s historic Marble Works district, is generously hosting the Party once again this year and will provide a wide array of their famously delicious flatbread pizzas along with an extensive selection at the bar.

Hailed as “a serious asset to Vermont,” Thayer is based in Stockbridge and has led an impressive career spanning close to three decades. He helped found Seven League Boots in 1990, a rock/reggae band that played alongside Fugazi and Pearl Jam, and since then has released seven albums, many featuring the “bojotar,” Bow’s invention of a hybrid instrument composed of part resonator guitar, part electric guitar and part banjo.

“Think of a jam between Dave Matthews, Frank Zappa and The Band – with a cameo from Bela Fleck – and you almost get the effect: virtuosic complexities from a remarkable instrumentalist,” wrote American Songwriter in a 2015 review of Bow’s album Sundowser. “Bow Thayer has always done things his own way, not only walking a singular pathway, but cutting that path through the woods with his own hands.”

The Saturday Night Party is free to all MNFF Passholders. Non-passholders can also attend by purchasing a $15 ticket at the door.  The Party kicks off at American Flatbread on Saturday, August 25 at 9:30pm. Get passes here.
