40TH ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE SCREENING
The epic “Brookside Strike” of 180 coal miners and their wives against the Eastover Coal Company in Harlan County, Kentucky became the subject of Barbara Kopple’s first feature documentary. By living with the striking miners for years, Kopple passionately portrays the miners’ struggle to establish more secure lives. Oscar-winning Harlan County, USA is a true landmark in the history of American documentary filmmaking.
Barbara Kopple will join Jay Craven for an ON-STAGE CONVERSATION following the screening.
