SYNOPSIS
Three women in three different regions of Indonesia face problems with their status as a woman in a male dominated society. Through necessity and their own personal convictions, they find the strength to address the inequality, challenge traditional rights and imposed limitations to transform and empower themselves and those around them.
SPECIAL EVENT
The American Indonesian Cultural and Educational Foundation has partnered with MNFF and the Bali International Film Festival to create a cross cultural exchange of filmmakers, with an Indonesian filmmaker’s film screening at Middlebury and an American filmmaker’s film screening at Bali. Indonesian filmmaker Harvan Agustriansyah is expected to attend this screening of Sugar on the Weaver’s Chair.
FREE & OPEN TO ALL:
A reception featuring Mr. Agustriansyah and members of the Indonesian Consulate in New York will follow the screening at Town Hall Theater.
