RETURNING FILMMAKER SPOTLIGHT

Last year, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and MNFF announced a multi-year partnership to honor a director’s excellence in the integration of original music into film.  The inaugural VSO award went to Vermont filmmaker Jesse Kreitzer, for his short film “Black Canaries.”

The award brings together the filmmaker with a rising composer for his or her next film. Teaming up with Vermont composer Paul Dedell, Jesse Kreitzer has created a dynamic event that will showcase their creative process and present a seven minute work-in-progress scene from his new  documentary titled “Caregivers.”  A cohort of the VSO will play Paul Dedell’s score live during the screening of the scene.

We are delighted to welcome Kreitzer back to the the Festival for this rather amazing and unique event, slated for Sunday, August 27 at 1pm at the Robison Hall in the Mahaney Arts Center at  Middlebury College.

And, of course, the next VSO Award will be presented to another director at this year Closing Ceremonies.
